Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.

The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
